Pool remodeling in Sun City West
Del Webb opened Sun City West in 1978, just west of Sun City. Many pools here have been resurfaced at least once, and that changes how the next finish goes on.

Old layers come off before a new one goes on
Each resurface over an old finish adds another layer. Stack enough of them and the new coat can lose its grip, then flake or pop off in patches.
On a pool that's been redone before, we check how the old finish is holding. If it's loose or built up thick, it comes off down to a solid base before the new finish goes in.

Homes from the late '70s through the '90s
Most homes here were built in the late '70s, '80s and '90s. That can mean original tile, worn coping and skimmers with decades of use.
We look at all of it. A new finish framed by cracked tile still looks old.

Help the new finish last
If you'd rather not face another resurface soon, ask about Microglass. It's a clear coat over the new surface that cuts down on buildup, so the finish stays smoother longer.

My pool has been resurfaced before. Can you just go over it?
Sometimes. If the old finish is solid and not too thick, a new coat can bond to it. If it's loose or layered up, we remove it first, and the estimate says which we'll do.
How can I tell if my old finish is coming loose?
Hollow-sounding spots, flaking and patches that pop off are the common signs. We check for them at the visit.
Do you work in Sun City West?
Yes. It's part of our West Valley service area, just west of Sun City. The estimate visit is free.
Is my '80s tile worth keeping?
If it's firmly attached and you still like it, yes. If some of it is loose or you're tired of the look, replacing it during the resurface is easier than doing it later.
Will removing the old finish make the job longer?
A bit. It adds work before the new surface goes in. Most remodels still take 1 to 4 weeks.
How do I keep the new finish from wearing out so fast?
Good water balance matters most. Microglass adds a protective coat, and our pool start-up gets the new surface going the right way.
